The new type of photodetector detects weak light signals in the 2μm band

In many cutting-edge fields of scientific research and industrial applications, the precise capture and analysis of weak light signals have always been the key to driving technological innovation. Especially in the 2-micron (μm) mid-infrared band, the fingerprint absorption of gas molecules, the pulse characteristics of new lasers, and the deep information of biological tissues are all contained within this seemingly weak but information-rich optical signal. However, the difficulty in capturing weak optical signal, suppressing environmental interference, and the high complexity of system integration have always been hidden barriers in scientific research and engineering applications.

Today, we bring you a product that meets the requirements of this application, the R-PR-1G type 2μm analog light detection photodetector, dedicated to becoming the “dawner” in the field of mid-infrared light signal detection.

The R-PR-2μm photodetector module ingeniously integrates a high-speed enhanced InGaAs photodetector with a low-noise amplifier, resembling a “super sensory” tailor-made for precise optical measurement. Its outstanding performance is reflected in the wide spectral response range of 900-2300nm, which can cover multiple key mid-infrared bands. Whether it is the characteristic absorption of water molecules in the air or the unique wavelengths output by TM-doped and Ho fiber lasers, they can all be precisely captured.

Not only that, the R-PR-2μm photodetector module is renowned for its high gain, high sensitivity and excellent gain flatness. Even extremely weak picosecond-level mid-infrared laser pulses can be clearly identified by it, ensuring lossless signal transmission. Meanwhile, its low-noise feature effectively suppresses background interference, providing researchers with purer and more reliable raw data. The module has a compact structure, is capable of preventing electromagnetic interference, and supports single-mode fiber or free-space coupling input, as well as SMA connector output, which greatly facilitates integration and deployment. What’s more worth mentioning is that it also supports customization based on the specific needs of customers. For instance, the built-in PIN tube photosensitive surface is optional, demonstrating its high degree of flexibility and adaptability. Though the  light is faint, it can still be traced. The R-PR-2μm photodetector module makes the invisible light in the operation visible, measurable and usable.
